No Speed Limit On New Clinton Kieith Road Opening

Credit: French Valley Press

Although the highly anticipated Clinton Keith Road was opened early August, we continue to receive daily emails asking why there is no speed limit posted.

Clinton Keith Road at Whitewood is open and runs all the way to Leon.  This road has been talked about for a long time as it loosens up traffic for people using Murrieta Hot Springs Road, to get into the French Valley area.

The question of the days is how come there is no speed limit posting anywhere.

The short answer is Riverside County Traffic Engineers have not conducted a speed survey on the road yet. The survey was expected to take place after school started to get a better indication of traffic during non-peak and peak times.  As of now, the speed limit is 65 MPH.

I am confident that statement of speed is incorrect: Maximum Speed Limit,
The maximum speed limit on most California highways is 65 mph. You may drive 70 mph where posted. Unless otherwise posted, the maximum speed limit is 55 mph on a two-lane undivided highway and for vehicles towing trailers.

Other speed limit signs are posted for the type of roads and traffic in each area. All speed limits are based on ideal driving conditions. Construction zones usually have reduced speed zones.
