Topeka Kansas based company Payless, is shutting its doors. It’s sad to see that a major player with more than 3,600 locations in 40 countries and over 18,000 employees, call it quits.
Payless first filed for bankruptcy back in April of 2017 and closed roughly 400 stores at that time. After an attempt of cutting millions of dollars in debt, that was not enough to keep the doors open.
Although it’s sad to see another major retailer bite the dust, it’s not a surprise. Payless is the latest to join the club. Earlier we all saw Toy’s “R” Us and Kmart struggle only to close the doors.
Internal sources tell us they will also close their online presence as well. Stores are slated to close in March, with some stores staying open until May.
