Update: Murrieta PD, CHP And RSO Involved In Local Pursuit

At 8:47 a.m. deputies responded to the 31000 blk of Borega Rd in French Valley for a report of a male who brandished a gun and was possibly under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.

The suspect fled in a truck but was quickly located where he failed to yield to deputies. Deputies pursued the suspect and made various attempts to get him to surrender, which were unsuccessful. At one point during the pursuit deputies saw the suspect with the gun.

The pursuit concluded at 9:52 a.m. in the City of Murrieta after Murrieta Police Department used their bearcat armored rescue vehicle to disable the truck on Jefferson Ave. The suspect fired at deputies striking several police vehicles. A deputy involved shooting occurred and the suspect was struck. The suspect died at the scene; no deputies or residents were injured. A gun was recovered at the scene.

A joint investigation is being conducted with Murrieta PD.
